Barry Dean is a Grammy-nominated songwriter known for Little Big Town’s first number one hit, “Pontoon.” His other hits include “Day Drinking” (Little Big Town), “Heartache Medication” (John Pardi), “Think a Little Less” (Michael Ray), and the Grammy-nominated “Diamond Rings and Old Barstools” (Tim McGraw). He won his first BMI Pop Award for “Girls Chase Boys” (Ingrid Michaelson) and has had cuts by artists like Alison Krauss, Luke Combs, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Maren Morris, Thomas Rhett, Brothers Osborne, Meatloaf, Jason Aldean, and Kenny Chesney.
Dean produced the critically acclaimed “Lorraine” album for long-time collaborator Lori McKenna and the indie album “Killing Uncle Buzzy” for Travis Meadows. A Leadership Music alum, Dean has served on the NSAI board and as a Recording Academy Nashville Chapter Governor.
He is also the co-founder and CEO of LUCI, a Mobility as a Service platform enhancing situational awareness for mobility products. LUCI has been awarded 20 patents and has won several accolades, including a Fast Company World Changing Ideas award, a Popular Science Best of What’s New Award, a CES Innovation Award, and was named one of Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2020.
